The Position 

We currently have a fantastic opportunity for a qualified Head Chef to join our team at one of our Pilbara sites.  The position is offered on a Fly in Fly out basis, working 2 weeks on, 1 week off. The role is a "hands on" position and will require a Head Chef who is happy to be "on the tools" with their team and visible to customers. The village is a busy and demanding site operating 200 to 500 mandays, depending on site actrivity.

Key Duties

  • Deliver to our client's high expectation of food service covering Breakfast, Crib, Dinner and Desserts
  • Maintain a high standard of food hygiene, safety, and cleanliness in accordance with Compass standards
  • Manage food ordering and cost control and contribute innovative ideas towards our food budget
  • Ensure all OH&S compliance is achieved
  • Adhere to safe work practices and safe food handling procedures
  • Ensure all catering controls are in place and wastage is kept to a minimum
  • Model high standards of performance and behaviour
  • Manage team performance by developing team commitment and cooperation
  • Teach and develop other team members including Chefs and Kitchenhands

The Person

  • Qualified Chef with Cert III in Commercial Cookery or equivalent
  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
  • Be calm and collected during pressure periods
  • Experience in cost control and ordering
  • Hold a current Food safety supervisor certificate
  • Have a passion for quality food, produce and service
  • Comply with hygienic work practices and appropriate HACCP guidelines
  • Ability to foster close and positive working relationships with staff, key clients and customers is essential
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
