The Position

A fantastic full time opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated, experienced Handyman/Grounds Utility to join the team providing grounds maintenance support of new schools based in Bellbird Park on Brisbane's southern outer suburbs rotating roster between three different sites. The Shift will be Monday to Friday 6am to 4pm (Weekend work as per operational requirements) 

This is a hands on positions for someone who is happy to cover working across several sites with a small team of grounds staff.

Key Duties

  • Support the supervisor with all ground and garden reactive maintenance services
  • Support the supervisor with all planned grounds maintenance services
  • Implement & maintain an integrated pest management program
  • Maintain vehicle, operating equipment and machinery
  • Liaise with external contractors for any special projects initiated by the school for Ground activities and implementation
  • Provide waste management services
  • Assess work site hazards and security risks
  • Follow and adhere to all health, safety and security procedures

The Person

  • 5 years grounds maintenance experience in multi precinct environments
  • Experience in fixed plant and equipment maintenance and delivery
  • Sound technical/trade problem solving skills
  • Experience working in a school or education environment (desirable)
  • Certificate 2 in Landscaping (desirable)
  • Flexible approach and attitude
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Must be able to provide direction and management to other staff
  • Physically fit and reliable
  • Hold a full drivers licence as you will have access to a shared company vehicle

The successful applicant will be required to provide a current Working with Children Blue Card, Australian National Police Clearance and a First Aid Certificate.
