We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join a busy and growing team in our McMahons Point office as a Proposal Writer/ Manager. The primary purpose of this role is to work closely with the rest of the Bid Management team and other sales leaders to develop, write, manage and coordinate compelling bid and proposal response documents that reflect the key messages of the Urban business’ best in class operational solutions.  Whilst the position reports to the Director Bid Management, for each individual bid response or proposal it will report to the allocated Bid Manager. The main activity focuses on the written and editorial aspects of bids, proposals and other business development material to ensure Compass Group’s ability to deliver against client requirements and win themes is expressed clearly, fluently and effectively.  The Proposal Writer/Manager will also assist in analysing performance on tenders submitted and help develop strategies to improve the success ratio.

The salary of offer for this role is between $80,000 - $90,000.

Key Duties

  • For each allocated bid, develop a bid response documentation plan in consultation with the Bid Manager and in accordance with Bid Management Process
  • Develop, write, manage and co-ordinate the development, production and delivery of bid and proposal responses in accordance with required timeframes
  • Ensure bid response documentation requirements meet the client requirements in both format and response content
  • Understand key client drivers, associated bid strategies and the solution ensuring this is articulated in a clear, concise and compelling bid response, supported by evidence.
  • Contribute to the maintenance of the library of standard tender information including procedures, forms, templates, standard content and images to streamline tender preparation and improve the timeliness and quality of submissions
  • Liaise with the BD team and key stakeholders to anticipate and prepare for tender opportunities
  • Support the Director Bid Management and other sales leads in the review of completed tenders to ensure quality, management of risk and compliance with company requirements
  • Meet deadlines and quality expectations in document preparation and bid submission
  • Establishing and maintaining effective relationships with clients and internal stakeholders
  • Supporting the Bid Manager in writing and coordinating all allocated tenders for new and existing business clients
  • Meet deadlines and quality expectations in document preparation and bid submissions
  • Bid writing and proof reading
  • Coordinating responses to bid questions
  • Manager external support services (design/printing etc.)
  • Assisting the wider BD team as required
  • Building strong relationships and liaising with them regularly
  • Meeting with stakeholders at all levels spending time with them, observing their practices, gaining their buy-in
  • Communicate effectively in the workplace

  • Receive information in all forms and convert it into compelling case studies, correspondence, presentations and bid/questions responses

Our Ideal Person

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in technical/ submission writing, journalism or editing
  • Experience in writing content for all types of bids for both private and public sector clients – covering simple EOIs through to complex RFTs/RFPs, PPPs
  • Experience in writing bids focused on service delivery, service integration or operational services
  • Expert writing and document presentation skills in an external facing context; including an ability to write customer focused and creative content
  • Ability to extract ideas from an operational solution and structure a compelling document to reflect the solutions winning themes
  • High levels of commitment and the ability to work effectively within a team environment
  • Expert user of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Good planning and time management skills
  • Proven ability to manage tasks to full completion
  • Strong attention to detail, quality and presentation standards
  • Demonstrated problem-solving, decision making and presentation skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills with multiple stakeholders (internal and external) with ability to work and interface credibly with peers
