The Position:

We are looking for a passionate, energetic nutritionist with a demonstrated ability to provide nutritional consults, assessment and education to residents living in remote mine site villages in Australia.

The role is casual position, with remote travel required for short periods. The successful candidate will have a strong passion for improving peoples health through good nutrition, education and lifestyle changes. Reporting to the National Manager – Nutrition Services, the successful candidate will be joining an organisation that is an industry forerunner in the field of remote health services.

Key Duties:

  • Provide nutrition/dietetic duties including, but not limited to:
    • One on one consultation & nutritional assessment
    • Food frequency questionnaire and dietary analysis
    • Meal planning
    • Advice on weight loss and/or weight management
    • Provision of nutrition education programs  
    • Provide dietary reports
    • Liaison with other health services on and off site
  • Compile comprehensive assessments, treatment plans/programs, appropriate intervention and maintain accurate client case notes and records within expected timeframe
  • The ability to implement and assist in the coordination of company-wide health strategies and initiatives.
  • Provide educational seminars for employees
  • Ensure compliance with company reporting obligations

 The Person:

Key Requirements:

  • Flexibility to work in remote locations for periods of time
  • Demonstrate a pro-active, well organised approach to work independently
  • Excellent communication/presentation skills
  • Passion for nutrition, health and overall wellbeing
  • Displayed competency in using Foodworks professional

Essential Criteria: 

  • Bachelor or post graduate degree in nutrition and/or dietetics that provides eligibility for full membership of the Dietitians Association of Australia, or the Nutrition Society of Australia
  • Demonstrated proficient skills and knowledge in the provision of current nutrition and dietetic practice
  • A strong commitment to and demonstrated proficiency in evidence-based services provided for clients and families requiring assessment, case management, intervention and appropriate referral if required
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the ability to work autonomously with limited supervision
  • Have the ability to prioritise work, manage a demanding workload while maintaining a high standard of quality
  • Demonstrated ability to apply high level reasoning skills and have independent professional judgement
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to form respectful and professional relationships
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in nutritional consultation and assessment
  • Australian manual drivers licence

Highly Desirable:  

  • Health promotion qualification and/or industry experience
  • Experience in specific areas of nutrition – diabetes management, weight loss, family nutrition + meal planning, community nutrition
