We have an amazing full-time opportunity for an experienced Café Supervisor at the National Gallery of Victoria. Your role will enable you to take ownership of the newly renovated cafe, inspire and connect with your team, whilst building lasting relationships with our customers. This iconic venue is in a busy, well-structured premium location that relies on the people who work in it to deliver consistent, great quality food and service every time.

The Position:  

This is a role for a talented Cafe Supervisor that can not only effectively lead staff and please our customers, but someone who truly wants to passionately contribute to our Compass Vision & Values. As this is a 7 day per week operation, you will be expected to be  available to work throughout the week, weekends, evenings, public holidays and school holidays as required.  

Key Duties:

  • Oversee and Supervise the day-to-day operation of services in a busy retail environment
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of strategic plans to achieve ongoing improvements
  • Deliver effective coaching, training & development to the team
  • Maintain excellence in food safety standards to ensure you maximise the customer experience and drives sales while delivering outstanding customer service.

The Person:

  • Minimum 3 years experience as a Café Manager in a comparable environment, sales experience highly valued
  • Qualification in Certificate 5 or equivalent in hospitality
  • Must hold a Victoria RSA 
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills along with sound decision making and a keen eye for innovation and detail
  • Experience in leading and mentoring a team
  • You are super organised, a multi-tasker and love responsibility
  • Experience in effectively managing costs - advantageous
  • Proven stock control, ordering, cash handling and training experience
  • Able to keep cool in fast paced environment
