ESS, the leading resources sector of Compass Group, is offering full-time Apprentice Chef positions commencing in early 2021. Reporting to a Senior Chef, you will work on one or more (you may have the opportunity to change sites throughout your Apprenticeship) of our remote sites in regional SA, while completing a nationally recognised qualification!

We are offering locally based opportunities in Roxby Downs or Fly-in/Fly-out (FIFO) roles from Adelaide.

Details of the Apprenticeship

  • Three-year apprenticeship resulting in a Certificate III in Commercial Cookery
  • You will work a usual FIFO roster (generally 14 days on/7 days off)
  • You will complete dedicated training sessions with a selected Registered Training Organisation
  • Online learning modules and assessments form part of the study program (study time will be allocated at site but expect, and be prepared, to top this up with your own private study time) 
  • Meals, accommodation, uniforms and Chef equipment will be supplied by ESS
  • All flights to & from site are provided by ESS for successful Adelaide based applicants

A bit about you

  • You have a passion for food & you’re at home in the kitchen!
  • You enjoy the idea of working remotely in regional SA and are committed to a three-year FIFO chef apprenticeship – and an on-going role as a qualified FIFO Chef with ESS
  • You can work under pressure and to tight deadlines
  • You are reliable, hardworking, resilient and follow instructions
  • You have the capacity & willingness to commit to additional study outside of work hours
  • You are an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident
  • SA Drivers Licence - preferable (ideally a manual license)
