Area Manager – Hospitality & Facilities Services

ESS provides a home away from home for people working in remote mining villages and offshore oil and gas facilities. We deliver integrated hospitality and facilities management solutions to ensure our guests enjoy the comforts of home, even in the most isolated locations.

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and experienced leader to join our ESS business in the capacity of BHP Area Manager.

As an experienced multi-site operator, you will focus on inspiring a team to create amazing resident experiences. And whilst understanding the commercial nuances is critical to the success of the business, it's brilliant leadership that is well and truly at the epicenter of this role.  The ability to coach teams, deliver amazing service and create an environment in which residents are able to experience the entirety of the ESS experience is conducive to success in this position. The Role

• Lead and manage all operational aspects across assigned sites

• This role is primarily office-based, with regular opportunities to travel to site as required.

• Manage site budgets with demonstrated understanding of food costing, waste management, and financial performance

• Ensure full compliance with food safety, site safety, and company health, safety, and security procedures

• Lead operational delivery of Facilities Management services, including cleaning, maintenance, and asset management

• Oversee planning, execution, compliance, and continuous improvement across both hard and soft FM services

• Manage contractor performance and ensure compliance with contractual and regulatory requirements

• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and residents, effectively managing expectations

• Drive a positive safety culture and ensure operational targets are achieved safely

The Person

• Proven experience managing medium to large sites within remote villages, hotels, or hospitality environments

• Strong background across both culinary operations and facilities / cleaning services

• Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills

• Ability to drive a positive, high-performance team culture

• Demonstrated capability in operational management of FM services, including planning, execution, compliance, and continuous improvement across hard and soft services

• Strong stakeholder engagement skills with a focus on delivering superior service levels

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Strong negotiation, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities

• In-depth knowledge of health and safety with a strong personal commitment to safety leadership

• Sound knowledge of HACCP and food safety systems

• Ability to adapt quickly to changing operational and business needs

• Essential Facilities Management experience, including oversight of hard and soft services, compliance, and contractor management

• Willingness to travel across sites as required
