The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Category Manager to lead the strategic sourcing and category management of our Dairy and Bakery portfolio. This critical role ensures our product range delivers exceptional value and aligns with sector and client requirements. You will drive innovation, optimize vendor performance, and deliver best-in-class commercial outcomes through collaboration and strategic execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Own primary relationships with core suppliers and lead a small, agile team.
- Develop and execute category strategies that meet commercial, operational, and sustainability objectives.
- Lead supplier selection, tendering, contract negotiation, and ongoing supplier relationship management.
- Collaborate with culinary, operations, and supply chain teams to ensure product quality and service excellence.
- Analyze category performance and implement initiatives to drive efficiency, compliance, and continuous improvement.
- Stay ahead of market trends, risks, and innovations to inform category development and risk mitigation strategies.
- Flexibility to manage other categories based on candidate strengths.
What You’ll Bring
- Proven experience in procurement, category, or supply chain management, ideally within FMCG, food services, or hospitality sectors.
- Strong commercial acumen and negotiation skills with a track record of delivering cost savings and added value.
- Excellent analytical ability with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
- Effective stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at all levels.
- Tertiary qualifications in Business, Procurement, Supply Chain, or a related field are highly desirable.
- Experience in allergen risk management within bakery or food service environments is highly preferable.
