As an essential services worker your role will be vital, and we’d love for you to be part of the team.  We are currently seeking a Catering Assistant to work within our Long Bay Hospital team based in Malabar. This role will form part of face paced kitchen team that delivers high volume, bulk catering to the patients. This role is on a rotating roster and the minimum hours will be 20 hours a week so your flexible availability will be favoured. 

Key responsibilities will include: 

  • Food preparation with knowledge of food allergens is preferred
  • Stock rotation and stock control
  • Ensuring to follow all health and safety procedures when caring out all tasks
  • Any other ad hoc duties as required by our fantastic Chefs and Management
  • Operating a commercial dishwasher to a high standard
  • Assist with general kitchen duties under the direction of the Site Manager
  • Maintain cleanliness and provide a warm, friendly, and welcoming style of service to customers 

What we’ll need from you

  • Previous experience in a similar role
  • Knowledge of allergens
  • Good communication skills and ability to work unsupervised
  • Strong work ethic - willing to learn and be part of a fast-paced dynamic team

You'll also need to:

  • In line with the required legislation, a valid and current police clearance, a working with children’s check and influenza vaccination (or be prepared to acquire).
  • From 20th August 2021 it is a legislative requirement for all health workers to have received at least one COVID-19 shot by the 30th of September 2021.
