ESS provides multi-service capability to major companies and organisations operating in remote sites, gold mines and coal fields. We provide vital workplace support for people working in some of the most isolated terrains in the world, from oil rigs in the North Sea to gold mines in the Australian Outback. 

The Position: 

Our Chefs are employed to prepare, cook and serve quality food for our customers on our sites, catering for roughly 150- 200 residents. We currently have one very rare opportunity for an experienced Chef to join our team at Zeehan Village, TAS 

  • DIDO - Must live in Tasmania 
  • 5 days on 2 days off (Monday to Friday) - 10 hours per day 
  • Drive In Drive Out for locals of Zeehan, Queenstown, Strahan, Rosebery or surrounding areas

Responsibilities: 

  • Prepare buffet style bulk cooking for Breakfast and Crib lunch, or Dinner and Desserts 
  • You will work within a team of Chefs, kitchen utilities & dining room employees to deliver exceptional quality and service to the village residents 
  • Adhere to safe work practices and safe food handling procedures 
  • Ensure all catering controls are in place & wastage is kept to the minimum 
  • Offer guidance and support to the kitchen team where needed, to ensure a great experience for all customers 
  • Enhance workplace culture – display high levels of customer service, contribute ideas and be flexible to meet the needs of the business 

The Person:

  • You will be a qualified Chef with Cert III in Commercial Cookery or Equivalent 
  • Buffet style bulk cooking for Breakfast, Crib, Lunch, Dinner and Desserts 
  • You will have the ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines 
  • Attention to detail and great time management is a must 
  • Excellent knowledge of all kitchen procedures and operations 
  • Excellent knowledge of food safety and able to manage compliance  
  • Ensure all catering controls are in place & wastage is kept to the minimum 
  • Offer guidance and support to the kitchen team where needed, to ensure a great experience for all customers 
  • Enhance workplace culture – display high levels of customer service, contribute ideas and be flexible to meet the needs of the business 
  • Maintain high standards of food hygiene, safety, infection control and cleanliness in accordance with Compass standards.
