This role is a great opportunity for a career driven Chef looking to take the next step towards a site management position within our business. Ideally you will have experience working within a commercial catering environment, possess good people management, staff development and training ability, and be able to demonstrate sound business management techniques. 

The successful candidate can expect to be supported by an established & experienced site team and you will benefit from a 6 month transition as the current Manager will continue to support the operation. Roster will generally be Monday to Friday with the site operating 7 days across three meal services during school term time.

The primary focus of the role will be to deliver excellence in food and service standards and to ensure customer and client satisfaction through delivery of great food & service.

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the key responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to:

  • Maintaining food hygiene, safety, infection control and cleanliness in accordance with Compass standards
  • Stock control and security, effective rostering, training and mentoring of team members supported by our established systems and processes
  • Manage finances within a budget
  • Menu planning, food preparation and cooking
  • Maintain efficient operations across service areas
  • Understand the scope of the contract terms and conditions
  • Effectively liaise with our clients and other key stakeholders
  • Maintain effective business relationships


The successful candidate will possess the following key skills and attributes:

  • Qualifications in commercial cookery
  • Understanding of HACCP, food safety and infection control
  • Motivated to lead and mentor a small team
  • Time management, organisational and communication skills
  • RMLV advantageous
  • A current QLD Working with Children Blue Card or ability to obtain
  • Management or Business qualifications an advantage but we will consider supporting studies to achieve this outcome
