The Position:

Are you ready to take your career to the next level? We're looking for an experienced Commercial Manager to lead a team of Commercial Accountants in our vibrant Chartwells Commercial team. As a key player, you’ll be the 2IC (Second-in-Charge) to the business partner, providing crucial support to our broader commercial and operations financial leadership teams.

In this role, you’ll drive standardisation and best practices, ensuring efficiency in both regular and ad-hoc transactional work. You’ll be at the heart of responding to the needs of our wider commercial and operational teams, making a real impact on the business. You will assist with month-end processes, management reporting, and ensure contractual compliance through detailed reviews and financial analysis. The Role:

  • Manage invoicing, approvals, and reconciliations, ensuring invoices are accurate and fully compliant with contract agreements
  • Oversee accurate month-end closing processes, assist in P&L preparation and prepare monthly reports
  • Conduct regular management reporting and analysis and risk mitigation
  • Liaise with and support Internal and External stakeholders
  • Assist in budgeting and forecasting and collaborate with the Commercial business partner to finalise budgets and financial plans
  • Lead and inspire a high-performing team through effective coaching, communication, and performance management to drive growth and development.
  • Identifying and communicate opportunities for improvement & process streamlining 
  • Support the commercial team in reviewing client contracts to ensure financial terms align with bid proposals and billing/payment arrangements follow company policies
  • Adhere to health, safety and security procedures
  • Responding to and supporting team queries in relation to invoicing, EOM close-off, debt collection or balance sheet reconciliation
  • Collaborate with operations teams to develop and implement action plans that enhance contract performance
  • Contract Compliance
  • Lead the implementation of commercial transformation initiatives and projects to drive efficiencies and enhance team performance

The Person:

  • Accounting/Finance degree  (ideally CA/CPA qualified)
  • Minimum 3-5 years previous experience within a commercial finance  business environment
  • Demonstrated leadership in a dynamic commercial environment, consistently achieving impactful results through strategic decision-making and effective team management
  • Experience leading a team of at least 3 direct reports (commercial accountants)
  • Strong technical and analytical skills
  • Ability to problem solve, prioritise and multi-task
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and Microsoft PowerPoint skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to comfortably communicate with internal and external stakeholders at all levels
  • Positive 'can-do' attitude, who can work autonomously in a team environment
  • Dedicated, passionate and committed to progressing the performance of the portfolio
