Compass Group is currently seeking a passionate Food Safety Leader to facilitate the improvement of food safety standards across the Compass Group Australia business through understanding and analysing current performance trends, contribute to the development of best practice standards and procedures, including their implementation and utilisation across the business.  The role will be responsible for providing specialist advice and information on food safety and quality issues while promoting and maintaining the Our Safety Culture (OSC) framework. 

Core Competencies:

  • Coach line management in Food Safety Program (FSP) processes at sites
  • Verify competency and compliance to FSP processes at sites
  • Lead incident investigations in response to High potential related FSP incidents
  • Deploy improvements in FSP to sites
  • Key operational FS SME across Urban sites

Role Responsibilities:

  • Work collaboratively with business teams to implement and verify best practice food safety standards and procedures in line with the FSP
  • Coach leaders to demonstrate positive leadership behaviours in food safety and quality and to implement the company food programme to improve food safety and quality performance
  • Train others in Food Safety standards and best practices by conducting training within the sector
  • Assist with maintaining processes for identifying, assessing, managing and recording food safety risks and controls and demonstrate competency in current and emerging threats to food safety and security
  • Monitor the effectiveness of food safety critical risk controls and performance across the sectors to understand trends and patterns for focussed improvement
  • Assist in the investigation of food safety incidents where appropriate to drive a rigorous approach to root cause identification and close out of corrective actions
  • Lead incident investigations in response to High potential related FSP incidents
  • Contribute to ongoing food safety process improvement which drive improved understanding and compliance;
  • Actively share learnings and solutions across the organisation
  • Assess compliance to the Compass Group standards and Safety Management System consistent with both the National Health and Safety and sector business-specific Health and Safety Plans and including the undertaking of Food Safety Index audits where appropriate
  • Undertake Safety Interactions to drive risk awareness and care with employees and leaders, and record using email process as a minimum when at site
  • Support operational sites in implementation of continuous improvement initiatives, food safety related new projects and other actions

The Successful Candidate:

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience and a track record in improving food safety across diverse operations including a demonstrated capability in influencing leaders of the business to implement the company’s food safety standards and procedures throughout their teams
  • Experience in supporting operations in changing behaviours through a non-compliance approach
  • Demonstrated experience implementing and monitoring Food Safety programmes in a multi-service environment
  • Detailed knowledge of food safety legislation, standards and codes
  • Detailed knowledge of HACCP procedures
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, web-based software applications and a high level of computer literacy in general

This role can be based in Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane with an anticipated travel of two trips per month.
