ESS is the market leading support services division of Compass Group providing ‘home away from home’ comforts for remote workers. ESS have been awarded the opportunity to provide the hospitality and food solutions to the team working on Groote Eylandt. 

We are currently recruiting an experienced HSEQ Advisor. The role leads our safety initiatives on site by implementing and maintaining a safety leadership programme and approach across all aspects of village life.

  • Coach front line and senior leaders in their safety behaviours and programs to drive safe operations improvement
  • Drive compliance to the food safety programmes and procedures to ensure the highest standard of food integrity to our customers
  • Drive and maintain processes for identifying, assessing, managing and recording hazards and risks
  • Assist in the investigation of incidents to drive a rigorous approach to root cause identification and close out of corrective actions, and ensure relevant details are up to date in CHESS
  • Oversee the audit compliance to the Compass Group standards and HSEQ Management System including relevant OR business requirements consistent with both the National Health and Safety and OR business-specific Health and Safety Plans
  • Review, establish and maintain procedures for environmental management on your site that are closely aligned with the company’s accredited Environmental Management System (EMS)
  • Interact with clients to demonstrate to them how the company’s operations and programmes effectively manage their risk and add commercial value to their operations and business strategy

The Person

  • Demonstrated experience implementing and monitoring HSEQ programmes in a multi-service environment
  • Degree/Diploma in relevant field and/or Certificate IV Work Health and Safety
  • Detailed knowledge of HACCP procedures
  • Proven track record in leading and improving safe operations including a demonstrated capability in influencing senior leaders of the business to implement the company’s HSEQ standards and procedures
  • Detailed knowledge of applicable legislation and ISO standards
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, web-based software applications and a high level of computer literacy in general
