The role

Reporting to the Site Manager, you will be responsible for managing the event food offerings and providing support and direction to kitchen staff through leading by example and sharing your technical skills. This is a hands-on position which requires an individual who can multi-task in all aspects of our operations while maintaining an exemplary food and service delivery. You will need to be flexible in your approach to work, as meeting the demands for external catering bookings will be a large component to the role.

Key responsibilities:

  • Produce a wide variety of culinary offerings in line with current food trends
  • Order and control stock and manage costs in line with business requirements and budgets
  • Develop and mentor the team to deliver to the highest standards
  • Champion the significance and accurate implementation of allergy awareness controls
  • Ensure operations comply with OH&S and food safety guidelines
  • Liaise with sales team and front-of-house management regarding planning and operations
  • Engage with the client on functions, events and the general direction of the food offer
  • Develop a solid understanding of the wider goals of the business and clients, whilst maintaining strong attention to detail

The successful applicant will demonstrate the following:

  • Chef's trade qualifications with 3+ years in a comparable venue environment including multi-venue catering
  • A proven ability to deliver a range of menus including canapes, plated dinners, buffets, corporate meetings, and themed special events
  • Experience working on high-end client functions and fine dining
  • Comfortable working under pressure, unsupervised and to tight deadlines
  • Thorough knowledge of all kitchen procedures and operations, and ability to design and implement new systems and processes 
  • Strong attention and respect for OH&S, Food Safety & HACCP regulations
  • Team leadership skills, including onboarding, training, communication and performance management
  • Professional approach to problem solving in high pressure environments
