The Role

As we further strategically align our teams, we’re searching for an experienced National Bid Manager to lead our bid function and drive strategic growth across our diverse business sectors.

This role plays a critical part in shaping our growth ambitions, driving strategic and commercially focused tender responses, and ensuring consistent delivery of our value proposition across sectors.

In this high-impact leadership role, you will guide the end-to-end development of strategic, client-focused, and commercially competitive tender submissions. You will lead a talented team, develop best-in-class bidding capability, and bring Compass Group’s value propositions to life in a compelling way.

In this role you will be responsible for.

  • Overseeing strategic planning, development, and delivery of winning proposals by developing systems, processes, content, and tools that elevate bid quality and conversion rates.
  • Creating strategies for major opportunities and must-retain contracts.
  • Ensure proposals are clear, compelling, evidence-based and client-centric by managing timelines, quality assurance, and external consultants where required.
  • Coaching and mentoring high-performing team members to build capability and uplift national standards.
  • Fostering excellence in writing, solution design, content development, and bid coordination.
  • Partnering closely with Sales, Sector GMs, subject matter experts and the Growth & Enablement team.

The Person

You’ll bring deep expertise and a strong leadership presence, including:

  • Degree qualifications and 8+ years’ experience in a similar role.
  • Proven experience managing large, complex bids; industry experience highly desirable.
  • Strong ability to develop client-oriented, commercially sound solutions.
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, problem-solving and planning skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to coach and lead diverse, high-performing teams.
