We are looking to appoint a Patient Service Officer to join our team based at the University of Canberra Public Hospital, ACT.  We are currently looking for those looking for a Part - Time contract to ensure we provide the best and most flexible service to our clients. 

The Position

We are currently seeking to appoint experienced and motivated Patient Service Attendants to assist in the daily support services of the patients and maintain smooth running of the hospital. The primary focus of this vital role is to ensure maximum patient comfort whilst maintaining efficiency levels of UCPH.

Key Duties

  • Assisting and supporting clinical staff in the provision of patient care
  • Providing patient transport; transferring patients to and from wards and departments
  • Transferring files, specimen samples and pharmacy boxes to different parts of the hospital
  • Providing theatre assistance incl. preparing operating rooms and cleaning and maintaining the theatres and equipment
  • Removing deceased patients to the mortuary
  • General cleaning duties

The Person

  • Proven experience in a similar position, i.e. assisted patient care - at least 2 years experience in a similar role
  • Experience with operating cleaning / laundry equipment.
  • Experience with waste management and recycling.
  • Ability to deliver high levels of service to customers, with a focus on patients' comfort and needs
  • Flexible, reliable and ability to work under pressure
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Physically fit

In line with the required legislation, a valid and current National Police check and flu vaccination will be required as part of the standard recruitment and selection process for this position.
