The Position

Helping them achieve understanding and commitment to safety as an embedded part of their roles rather than a stand-alone function?


If your answer is yes, we want to talk to you about an exciting safety leadership role within the Compass Group.

We are currently seeking applications from experienced Safety Managers to work on a Full-Time basis from our Perth Office with frequent travel to sites. The role leads a team of safety professionals aligned with Our Safety Culture by developing and maintaining a safety leadership programme and approach across all levels of the business from team members at site to members of the Australian Leadership Team. Key Duties 

  • Coach senior leaders in their safety behaviours and programs to drive safe operations improvement owned by operational leaders;
  • Drive compliance to the food safety programmes and procedures to ensure the highest standard of food integrity to our customers;
  • Drive and maintain processes for identifying, assessing, managing and recording hazards and risks;
  • Assist in the investigation of incidents to drive a rigorous approach to root cause identification and close out of corrective actions, and ensure relevant details are up to date in CHESS;
  • Oversee the audit compliance to the Compass Group standards and HSEQ Management System including relevant OR business requirements consistent with both the National Health and Safety and OR business-specific Health and Safety Plans;
  • Support and maintain company certification to Australian and International standards in accordance with the external HSEQ audit programme;
  • Conduct training within the sector in the company agreed training course including Safety Essentials (SE) and any other approved training courses as are available from time to time;
  • Review, establish and maintain procedures for environmental management within the business that are closely aligned with the company’s accredited Environmental Management System (EMS)
  • Interact with clients to demonstrate to them how the company’s operations and programmes effectively manage their risk and add commercial value to their operations and business strategy

The Person

  • Demonstrated experience implementing and monitoring HSEQ programmes in a multi-service environment;
  • Degree/Diploma in relevant field and/or Certificate IV Work Health and Safety;
  • Experience in managing inter-relationships across the company and stakeholders including clients and other relevant industry associations and bodies.
  • ICAM Investigation Experience
  • Detailed knowledge of HACCP procedures;
  • Proven years track record in leading and improving safe operations for a diverse team of safety practitioners including a demonstrated capability in influencing senior leaders of the business to implement the company’s HSEQ standards and procedures
