Due to an internal promotion, we are currently recruiting a new team to join us in the Safety team. As the Specialist-Assurance & Reporting, you will work collaboratively across our Urban based client sites with the broader HSEQ and business teams in the delivery of the Organisations Assurance, Compliance and Reporting schedule.

You will work to support the business in continuous improvement and compliance within the Compass Group Health, Safety, Environment & Quality (HSEQ) and Risk Management Systems.  You will provide specialist technical advice, support varied internal and external assurance activities and legislative interpretations, all whilst encouraging a culture characterised by care and respect and accountability for performance.  The role, in partnership with line leaders is instrumental in engaging and connecting every employee to our safety values. 

What your day might look like:

  • Work collaboratively with the Urban Safety Team, operations management and other Shared Services teams to identify risk, prioritise, drive and deliver the assurance and reporting programmes
  • Coach key personnel in safety legislation and opportunities for improvement
  • Support and maintain company certification to Australian and International standards in accordance with the external HSEQ audit programme
  • Identify, prioritise, drive and support processes required in order to meet internal and external safety obligations
  • Contribute to ongoing systems and process simplification and improvement which drive improved understanding and compliance to safety management tools and procedures
  • Prepare, review and submit Lessons Learned and great! Ideas to National Safety Managers and General Manger for consideration before dissemination to the business;
  • Audit compliance to the Compass Group standards, HSEQ Management System, food safety program and Third Party Vendors including relevant business requirements consistent with both the National and sector-specific Health and Safety Plans
  • Review performance of the business against procedures for sustainability management across the sectors that are closely aligned with the company’s accredited Environmental Management System (EMS) & recommend solutions as required
  • Any other duties as required from time-to-time

The role will require a significant amount of intra & interstate travel to our client sites

A bit about you:

  • Bachelor’s degree qualified in Health, Safety or Environment and or equivalent level of study and transferable skill set
  • Formal Audit qualifications – highly desirable
  • Minimum of 3 years proven work record and experience in the field of internal Auditing
  • Demonstrated experience in using audit tools that underpin the monitoring HSEQ programmes in a multi-service and multi sector environment
  • Experience in the use of risk management systems and software tools/Apps pertaining to food, soft support and hard facilities management (FM) services
  • Detailed knowledge of applicable legislation
  • Detailed knowledge of HACCP procedures
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, web-based software applications and a high level of computer literacy
