Our opportunity: 

As an essential services worker your role will be vital, and we’d love for you to be part of the team.  We are currently seeking a Support Services Supervisor to work within our Uni of Canberra Public Hospital team based in Bruce.

This role involves coordinatig the cleaning, distribution and patient support and materials distribution operations at the Hospital in a safe and efficient manner.  All these tasks must be done in conjunction with the contractual requirements of each Unit.

The role will include:

  • Manage and Coordinate people - Develop and promote training for staff, Model high standards of performance and behaviour and importantly Develop team commitment and cooperation
  • Auditing – particularly to undertake cleaning audits
  • Manage finances within a budget. Including monitor financial activities against budget and allocate budget resources
  • Combine duties where appropriate for efficient use of staff and implement effective absence management
  • Maximise customer service levels while minimising wage costs (e.g. roster development and annual leave planning
  • Prepare reports for management including end of month reporting and Hand Hygiene reporting

To be successful in this role we would want the right person to have the following:

  • Relevant industry experience, ideally experience working in a hospital environment
  • Experience in coordinating staff
  • Experience in workplace health and safety issues
  • Ability to work under pressure while maintaining a positive outlook and professional manner
  • Sound computer skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Flexible approach and attitude
  • Prior OH&S training and / or accreditation  

You'll also need to:

  • In line with the required legislation, a valid and current police clearance and influenza vaccination (or be prepared to acquire).
  • Have received or willing to obtain the COVID-19 vaccination.
