We’re looking for a passionate Full-Time Chef to join our team at our Italian-inspired bistro located within the beautiful James Cook University campus. If you have experience working in a restaurant setting and thrive in a busy, dynamic environment, this is the perfect opportunity for you!

THE POSITION

• Prepare fresh, delicious meals at our Italian-style bistro, located on the beautiful grounds of James Cook University.
• Work as part of a small, supportive team preparing short-order meals
• The role will have a focus on menu development and cost control responsibilities.
• Monitor stock and minimize wastage
• Adhere to hygiene standards and following proper food handling practices
• Deliver healthy choices and guidance to the future generation

THE PERSON

• Minimum Cert. III Commercial Cookery
• Current Working with Children Check, or ability to obtain
• 2-3 years' experience as a chef & Experience with cooking in bulk quantities
• Confident working with dietary requirements and allergen management protocols
• Passionate about healthy and nutritious food
• Ability to work efficiently under pressure and maintain consistency across multiple meal services
