You’ll champion training and development, coaching key team members to grow their skills and deliver warm, knowledge service reflecting the NGV’s prestige. From overseeing booking and reservation systems, managing guest flow, special requests, to VIP experiences with precision. You’ll be the heartbeat of the restaurant’s atmosphere – elevating service, solving problems on the spot and creating moments that keep our guests returning.

The Position:

  • Assisting the Food & Beverage Manager with day-to-day operations across our outlets with the focus on the well renowned Garden Restaurant
  • Assist in coordinating the front of house team’s daily operations
  • Lead the team to deliver exceptional, prompt and friendly service
  • Lead from the front, mentor and train the team, ensuring a fun and energetic working environment
  • Optimise team members rostered to increase revenue and productivity
  • Address any guest feedback in a timely manner to ensure everyone has the best experience possible
  • Consistently follow safety guidelines when performing tasks or using equipment reporting all hazards, near misses or accidents to appropriate personnel

 

The Person:

  • Demonstrated previous experience in a similar restaurant/retail environment
  • Experienced as a Host in a similar environment
  • Experience leading a team, identify opportunities for improvement, train and develop staff
  • Good knowledge of Melbourne food and beverage scene
  • Excellent communication skills, ability to confidently lead team briefing sessions with up to 12 team members
  • Experience with an online booking system, ensuring table and coordinating guests
  • Well-groomed and professional in appearance with attention to detail
  • Strong work ethic and “can do” attitude
  • Hold a current Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) certificate
