ESS provides multi-service capability to major companies and organisations operating in remote sites, gold mines and coal fields. We provide vital workplace support for people working in some of the most isolated terrains in the world, from oil rigs in the North Sea to gold mines in the Australian Outback. 

We are currently looking for a trade qualified chef to work out at our Hail Creek Village in Central Queensland, catering for approximately 800-900 residents. This role reports directly to Head Chef & site management.  

  • 14 days on, 7 days off roster. Working 10 hours per day 
  • FIFO from Brisbane 
  • Full time salary $98,587 + super

The Position: 

  • Support daily kitchen operations across breakfast, crib & dinner service 
  • Prepare high quality meals in a fast paced, bulk catering environment 
  • Assist with supervising kitchen hands and maintaining smooth service flow 
  • Maintain food quality, presentation and portion consistency  
  • Follow food safety, HACCP and OH&S standards at all times 
  • Assist with stock control 
  • Maintain cleanliness, hygiene and kitchen organisation in line with Compass standards 
  • Deliver excellent customer service and contribute positively to team culture 

The Person: 

  • Trade Cert III in Commercial Cookery  
  • Reliable, hardworking and confident working in a FIFO environment 
  • Experience in bulk catering/ cooking environments  
  • Strong kitchen skills with knowledge of procedures, prep and service operations 
  • Good communication skills and ability to work in a team 
  • Positive attitude, adaptable and motivated to deliver quality food consistently  
  • Understanding of food safety, hygiene standards and HACCP practices
