ESS, part of Compass Group, provides integrated hospitality and support services to the Australian Defence Force across Australia, we are seeking Catering and Kitchen attendants to deliver exceptional hospitality service in ADF mess halls and dining facilities. Duties include food preparation, plating and meal service, café support, and maintaining clean, safe work areas. Kitchenhand tasks involve washing and sanitising equipment, operating commercial dishwashers, assisting with stock rotation, and supporting chefs with basic prep.

The Position

Catering Attendant Duties

• Provide welcoming and efficient hospitality service in ADF mess halls and dining facilities
• Assist with basic food preparation, plating and meal service
• Operate tills or support café service where required
• Maintain clean, tidy and safe kitchen and service areas
• Follow strict food safety, hygiene and Defence security standard

Kitchen Hand Duties

• Washing, sanitising and storing pots, pans, crockery and cutlery
• Operating commercial dishwashers and cleaning kitchen equipment
• Assisting with stock rotation and storage
• Supporting chefs with basic prep tasks as required

The Person

• At least 1 year experience in a Kitchenhand or Catering Assistant role
• Friendly communicator with a team-first attitude
• Reliable, energetic and professionally presented
• Comfortable working in structured environments with clear protocols
• Australian Citizenship (mandatory for Defence clearance)
• Able to obtain a National Police Check
