Compass Group Australia will deliver essential support services at the new Footscray Hospital, one of Victoria’s largest health infrastructure projects. We will provide vital services, including patient services, environmental services, food, security, help desk, and more. As a public hospital with clinical services provided by Western Health, this state-of-the-art facility will play a key role in supporting the community—be part of something bigger and help shape the future of healthcare in Victoria.

Based in Footscray, Melbourne, Victoria, the General Services Manager oversees and manages  non-medical services. The scope of this role includes Cleaning, Catering, Orderlies, Patient Service Assistants, Environmental Service, Security, grounds and gardens.  

Critical to this role is the ability to manage and maintain a strong client partnership whilst delivering exceptional service, safety and quality standards across all sectors within the scope of the contractual and budgeted requirements.   

• Effectively oversee all contracted services within the hospital ensuring they’re performing to the highest standard including quality, cost, safety and service delivery. 
• Develop and maintain a strong client and contractual relationship across a wide stakeholder group.  
• Develop the operational quality and safety leadership capabilities across the Management team in order to provide exceptional service to our client and drive growth through our client partnership. 
• Foster a culture of care and respect in the workplace and lead people related initiatives to drive team engagement.  
• Maintain exceptional financial stewardship and budget control, achieve targets and identify business growth opportunities through contract expansion. 
• Ensure all compliance and company policies are adhered to, and oversee and promote good contract governance.

THE PERSON

• Experience in successfully managing complex and highly compliant operational contracts and budgets, preferably in a hospital environment.
• Strong and effective leadership skills; the ability to support, motivate and effectively manage both a unionised, and non-unionised workforce. 
• Passionate about high standards of delivery, levels of customer satisfaction and engagement with a demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement. 
• Well-developed negotiation and influencing skills, and the ability to navigate a political environment. 
• Thorough understanding of the operational day to day requirements that pertain to a successful business as well as the ability to accurately identify areas improvement. 
• Previous experience in multi-service / facilities management role within the healthcare sector
• Qualifications in Management are advantageous.
• As an occupational requirement of this role the successful applicant will be required to meet site entry requirements including but not limited to a current National Police Clearance & Relevant Immunisation Schedule.
