National Retail Excellence & Unattended Retail Manager
We’re looking for a commercially sharp, operationally strong retail leader to drive the next phase of retail excellence across Compass Group Australia. This senior national role will shape and deliver enterprise-wide retail strategy across staffed and unattended formats, influencing revenue growth, consumer experience, site execution and scalable operating models across a diverse national footprint.
Main Responsibilities
You will lead the development and execution of national retail initiatives, including retail training, site-level performance routines, centralised ordering support, people mobilisation readiness and unattended retail rollout. A key focus will be using market, financial and operational insights to identify growth opportunities, build business cases, improve site execution and support Area Managers to ensure retail activity converts into measurable commercial outcomes.
- Develop and execute national retail growth strategies that drive revenue, profitability and consumer engagement.
- Lead retail excellence programs including training, operational standards, site performance reviews and continuous improvement.
- Own unattended retail strategy and delivery, including vending, micro-markets and emerging retail formats.
- Engage and Deliver Projects: Manage retail mobilisations and go-live rolls outs; support transition to a Centralised Ordering model
- Support Key Training Initiatives including both in-person and online tools for Retail staff
- Weekly check-ins and performance updates with each site
- Utilise POS, financial and market data to identify opportunities, build business cases and improve site performance.
- Partner with Operations, Supply Chain, Centralised Ordering and PMO to ensure consistent execution across national portfolios.
- Oversee supplier performance, service delivery standards, and SLA compliance across unattended retail assets.
- Champion safety, compliance, food standards and operational excellence across all retail environments.
Key Experiences Desired
We’re seeking a proven retail, hospitality or multi-site operations leader with strong commercial acumen, excellent communication skills, sound budgeting capability and the confidence to influence stakeholders nationally. You’ll bring experience in retail strategy, training delivery, purchasing and supply chain, merchandising, food safety or compliance, team leadership and above all performance improvement. This role must have the ability to turn insight into action and deliver growth in complex, fast-moving operating environments.
