The Role 

Compass Group Australia is seeking a Senior Indigenous Engagement & Inclusion Advisor for two part-time roles: one permanent (4 days/week) and one fixed-term (4 days/week) for maternity leave coverage.

In this role, you will lead and implement the Indigenous Engagement & Inclusion Framework, providing strategic leadership, expert guidance, and operational support to embed inclusive practices. As a key member of the Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DE&I) team, you will work closely with leaders and teams to foster a culture of inclusion, respect, and accountability, ensuring alignment with organisational goals and legal requirements.

Role Purpose & Contribution 

  • Lead and implement Indigenous Engagement & Inclusion initiatives across all CGA business sectors. 

  • Provide thought leadership, strategic advice, and coaching to senior leaders, ensuring Indigenous engagement is operationally embedded. 

  • Collaborate with Executives, General Managers, and senior management to drive sustainable improvements in Indigenous engagement and inclusion performance. 

  • Act as a trusted senior advisor, offering high-level strategic input and project management expertise. 

  • Work closely with operations, recruitment, shared services, and external partners to drive meaningful engagement and talent retention. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Provide high-level advice, coaching, and support to leaders on Indigenous engagement strategies. 

  • Champion inclusive workplace practices and drive organisational change. 

  • Develop and implement Indigenous engagement strategies to attract and retain diverse talent. 

  • Lead compliance efforts to uphold Indigenous engagement policies and initiatives. 

  • Partner with internal and external stakeholders, clients, peak agencies, and Indigenous communities to enhance engagement initiatives. 

  • Represent CGA in the Compass Group Global DE&I network, sharing best practices. 

  • Engage with business development teams to integrate Indigenous engagement into bids, tenders, and sales proposals. 

  • Oversee strategic projects such as Reconciliation Action Plans (RAP), Goolyara Bidi, and DE&I Strategy. 

  • Drive improvements based on insights from Indigenous Employment Index, People Pulse, and AWEI surveys. 

  • Deliver high-quality reports and insights to support business growth and DE&I progress. 

The Person 

  • HR degree or similar qualification OR minimum 5 years' experience in DE&I and Indigenous Engagement. 

  • Proven track record in providing strategic Indigenous engagement advice and leadership. 

  • Strong project management, governance, and compliance expertise. 

  • Experience partnering with People teams, business leaders, and external Indigenous communities. 

  • Ability to guide senior leaders and influence without direct authority. 

  • Strong stakeholder engagement across business sectors and communities. 

  • Understanding of business operations and how DE&I initiatives drive performance. 

  • Ability to develop solutions and drive continuous improvement. 

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to articulate strategies and insights.
