Our previous Graduates have come from a wide range of academic disciplines including Commerce, International Relations, Finance, Hospitality and Hotel Management. If you are a “people person” and have a genuine desire to deliver exceptional customer experiences for our clients and genuine support to our teams, then we’d love you to apply to be part of our Future Leaders program.
You will be joining a business that is not only the global leader in Catering and Support Services but is truly committed to building a diverse and inclusive workplace. Compass has a strong commitment to sustainability and inclusion to ensure we have a positive impact on social and environmental issues and sets the highest standards for responsible business practice.
We currently work with over 40 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander business suppliers in our supply chain and are a proud founding corporate member of Supply Nation. We also led the way in reducing waste by being OzHarvest’s first major National Food Service Partner. We work closely with them to ensure any surplus food from our sites is distributed to people in need. You can find out about our other initiatives here.
We offer a competitive annual salary, paid training opportunities and a range of employee benefits as part of your graduate journey. The core structure of our program is designed to give you the opportunity to develop the key skills, behaviours and experiences you need to become a Future Leader at Compass Group.
Training: The majority of your knowledge will be gained on the tools, working your way through the different departments in our remote mining camps and in our Support Office. This will be complemented by structured learning, including management workshops, external training providers and a range of online tools to support your continued professional development.
Career progression: 100% of those who have successfully completed our Future Leaders Graduate Program have stepped into a leadership role immediately after the program. We give you all the tools to succeed and then you jump in the driver’s seat.
Networking: At Compass Group, you’re not restricted to meeting people in person. We encourage you to connect with your peers, previous graduates and our support services teams who are based in our offices throughout Australia, including those in our Australian Leadership Team. If you want to share your thoughts and ideas with our Managing Director, you can – there’s no such thing as a “them and us” in Compass Group Australia, you will be able to interact our senior leaders throughout the program.
Mentor: We’ll match you with someone to support you for the duration of the program and beyond. Whether you catch up with them once a week or once a month it’s up to you and your Mentor to work out what works for you. They’ll be there as often or as little as you need them to be.
Work rotations & placements: At first, you’ll be working in front line roles. It could be in Housekeeping cleaning rooms for our residents in our remote camps, working in the kitchen or serving our customers in retail outlets. Wherever you are, it’s important that you walk in the shoes of your future team members to know what it’s like to work in these, at times, physically demanding roles to give you a clear understanding of what it takes to be an employee in all facets of the business.
Management: You’ll shadow the management team at your site and deliver on specific tasks, take on leadership roles throughout the program and have the opportunity to step up and supervise teams.
"The graduate program was an intense nine months where the opportunities to learn were endless, and the exposure and opportunity given to us graduates to explore how big Compass Group really is was a true eye opener. The team was very supportive in not only helping us out in choosing which sector we would like to go in, but also the support of settling in to our new and exciting roles." Ritik Khetrapal
“It’s really rewarding working at alternate locations with different kinds of people, whether those people are corporate clients or school students or hospital patients, and working together with my team to create a unique and personalised experience for each site within Compass Group. The program was a fantastic experience, and one which has really set up my career in hospitality management.” Natasha Pasilow
"The graduate program gave me exposure on the wealth of network and opportunity that is within Compass’ reach. I addressed a gap in training for new site managers and proposed a pathway for internal development. It was rewarding to see programs like Leadership Academy and the Urban Graduate Program come to fruition since then.” Christonia (Tonia) Charlandy
