Our Future Leaders Graduate Program is designed to build and shape our future business leaders. We currently offer two Graduate Programs, providing real ‘on the job’ experience whether you’re working in our remote mining camps and villages or at our Urban client sites which could include independent schools and universities, healthcare facilities, corporate and leisure sites, venues plus you may have the option to work at some of our Defence sites.
You’ll work across a range of departments and sectors giving you the opportunity to be ‘on the tools’ for a period of time, have access to business mentors, have short placements across our support functions and attend workshop style courses building key leadership skills and gaining the commercial skills and knowledge to run your own team or business unit upon successful completion of the program.
We’re currently on the lookout for our #classof2022. Our previous Graduates have come from a wide range of academic disciplines including Commerce, International Relations, Finance, Hospitality and Hotel Management – if you are a “people person” and have a genuine desire to deliver exceptional customer experiences for our clients, then we’d love you to apply to be part of our Future Leaders programs.
You will be joining a business that is not only the global leader in Catering and Support Services but is truly committed to building a diverse and inclusive workplace, has a workforce that undertakes a range on initiatives to ensure we have a positive impact on social and environmental issues and set the highest of standards for responsible business practice.
We currently work with over 40 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander business suppliers in our supply chain and are a proud founding corporate member of Supply Nation. We also led the way in reducing waste by being OzHarvest’s first major National Food Service Partner and we work closely with them to ensure any surplus food from our sites is distributed to people in need. You can find out about other initiatives here.
We offer a competitive annual salary, paid training opportunities and a range of employee benefits as part of your graduate journey. The core structure of our program is designed to give you the opportunity to develop the key skills, behaviours and experiences you need to become a Future Leader of Compass Group. You’ll do this by a variety of ways:
Training: The majority of your learning will be gained “on the tools”, either working your way through the different departments in our remote mining camps, or during your placements in our range of client sites in our Urban business. This will be complemented by structured learning which includes management workshops, external training providers and a range of online tools to support your continued professional development.
Career progression: 100% of those who have successfully completed our Future Leaders Graduate Program have stepped into a leadership role immediately after the program. We give you all the tools to succeed and then you jump in the driving seat.
Networking: Now more than ever, you’re not restricted to meeting people in person. We encourage you to connect with your peers, previous graduates, our support services teams who are based in our offices throughout Australia, right up to our Australian Leadership Team. If you want to share your thoughts and ideas with our Managing Director, you can – there’s no such thing as a “them and us” in Compass Group Australia and you will have access to our senior leaders throughout the program.
Mentor: We’ll match you with someone who will support you for the duration of the program (and hopefully beyond!) – whether you catch up with them once a week or once a month it’s up to you and your Mentor to work out what works for you, they’ll be there as often or as little as you need them to be.
Work rotations & placements: At first, you’ll be working in front line roles and depending which program you join, it could be in Housekeeping cleaning rooms for our residents in our remote camps, working in the kitchen, serving our customers in a retail outlet or delivering a five star dining experience in one or our high end venues or corporate clients sites. Wherever you are, it’s important that you walk in the shoes of your future team members – know what it’s like to work in these, at times, physically demanding roles and for you to fully understand what they do.
Management: You’ll shadow the management team at your site and deliver on specific tasks, take on leadership roles throughout the program and have the opportunity to step up and supervise teams.
